New Delhi, August 28: The trailer for Mirai is finally here, and if the film delivers even half the energy packed into those three minutes, Telugu cinema could be looking at one of its most daring blockbusters in years.
Released today across digital platforms, the Mirai trailer isn’t playing by the usual rules. It opens in near-silence, with a cryptic warning “This disturbance will reach every scent” before unleashing a cascade of otherworldly visuals, glowing relics, collapsing cities, and what looks like a war that stretches across time itself.
Mirai Is Not Just Another Fantasy Action Film
At the heart of Mirai is Teja Sajja, stepping into the role of a young warrior chosen by fate. He’s not the invincible type. If anything, the trailer paints him as confused, maybe even scared, which adds to the tension. Opposite him is Manchu Manoj, returning in a striking villainous turn that has fans buzzing. With blood-smeared armor and a dead stare, he doesn’t need to say much. His presence does the talking.
The film seems to revolve around a divine weapon called Mirai a staff believed to contain secrets from the era of Emperor Ashoka and a series of ancient scriptures that everyone is chasing. The plot is still under wraps, but the tone is clear. This isn’t light fare. It’s heavy, layered, and leaning into myth with both feet.
Release Date Shifted to September 12
As confirmed by the producers, Mirai will now release worldwide on September 12, instead of its earlier date of September 5. According to reports from Pinkvilla and Indiatimes, the shift was made to wrap up final touches on visual effects and steer clear of a clash with Anushka Shetty’s upcoming film Ghaati.
The decision looks smart in hindsight. A film this visually rich needs its own moment at the box office. And judging by today’s trailer, it might just get it.
Visuals That Aim Big and a Score That Matches
Directed and shot by Karthik Gattamneni, Mirai doesn’t hold back on visuals. There are slow-motion battles, ancient temples exploding into light, and dreamlike sequences that feel more like graphic novels than traditional cinema. It’s big, loud, and surprisingly textured.
The music, composed by Gowra Hari, carries real weight. One moment it’s symphonic, the next it dives into electronic distortion. It keeps the trailer grounded even when the images start to fly off the rails.
A standout line from the trailer “History is a weapon. Memory is the war.” lands like a gut punch. It suggests that Mirai is aiming for more than just visual spectacle. There’s a philosophical layer here, though how deep it goes remains to be seen.
Mirai Already Locked for OTT and Satellite
JioHotstar has acquired the digital streaming rights for Mirai, with the post-theatrical OTT debut expected around mid to late October. The satellite rights have been picked up by Star Maa, securing the film’s future on both platforms well before its theatrical run begins.
According to The Economic Times, these deals were locked in before the trailer even dropped a clear vote of confidence from the backers.
Why Mirai Might Actually Matter
What makes Mirai interesting isn’t just its scale. Plenty of films have had bigger budgets. What stands out is its tone. It’s serious without being stiff. Mythical without being melodramatic. The trailer isn’t desperate to explain everything. It wants the audience to come in curious.
And right now, curiosity is running high. With just over two weeks to go, Mirai is already trending across platforms, and fan theories are flooding comment sections.
This could still go either way. Big ambition often comes with big risks. But for now, Mirai has done what most trailers struggle to do it’s made people pay attention.
