Greater Noida, September 15: Parents in Noida and Greater Noida woke up asking the same question this morning are schools open? The short answer is yes.
Today is Engineer’s Day, marked every year in memory of M. Visvesvaraya. It carries symbolic weight but no official status as a holiday. Which means schools, government offices, and most private workplaces are running as usual.
No Major Shutdowns Across States
Nationally, the picture is steady. There is no broad holiday in place, either for Engineer’s Day or for any festival. The Economic Times reported that most schools are functioning normally, with only scattered exceptions in flood-hit states.
Those exceptions matter, but they are limited. District officials in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan have been considering temporary closures in areas where rain has made roads unsafe. These are not statewide orders, just local interventions.
The Situation in Greater Noida
In Greater Noida, schools are open. The Gautam Buddh Nagar administration has not issued any closure notice for 15 September. Morning classes went on schedule, buses ran their regular routes.
That hasn’t stopped rumours. Over the weekend, some parents circulated messages about a possible rain-related holiday. But checks with local schools confirm nothing of the sort. Teachers and principals are clear: attendance is expected.
It’s worth remembering that weather closures here often come last minute, sometimes announced only after heavy overnight rain. That hasn’t been the case this week. Skies were overcast but not disruptive enough for any blanket order.
A Routine Monday Between Festivals
This is also a quiet stretch in the school calendar. The Ganesh Chaturthi holidays are coming up in parts of western and southern India, followed by Navratri and then the big run into Diwali. Parents in the NCR should expect scattered festival breaks later, but 15 September sits in between.
So the reality on the ground is simple classrooms are full, students are back from the weekend, and Monday feels very much like Monday.
