The spotlight quickly turned toward Elvish Yadav, whose appeal to raise nearly ₹9 crore for a child’s medical treatment had been circulating widely online.

Faruqui’s Instagram story, written in Hindi, questioned whether even the poor are now being pressured into donating and hinted at organisations charging high fees to manage influencer-led charity campaigns. It read more like a cynical observation than a direct charge. But timing is everything in the digital world.
The post appeared just as Yadav’s fundraising appeal was gaining momentum. Screenshots travelled. Speculation followed. Comment sections filled up. Before long, entertainment portals and social media pages were framing it as an indirect dig, even though Faruqui never clarified his intent. According to The Logical Indian, readers were divided. Some saw it as a broader critique of influencer culture. Others were convinced it was aimed squarely at Yadav.
Faruqui has not commented since. That silence has allowed interpretations to run unchecked.
The Fundraiser That Triggered The Debate
Elvish Yadav’s appeal was, on the surface, simple. A child required expensive medical treatment. The cost was reportedly around ₹9 crore. Yadav urged followers to contribute, using his platform to amplify the family’s plea. Supporters argue this is exactly what influence should be used for. They point out that advanced medical procedures often cost staggering amounts and that social media can mobilise help faster than traditional channels. Critics, however, were uneasy. The size of the amount raised eyebrows. So did the lack of publicly visible details around verification and fund handling.
What matters here is this: no authority has flagged the appeal, and no evidence of wrongdoing has been produced so far.
Social Media Does What It Always Does
As the story gained traction, the tone shifted. It stopped being about charity ethics and became personal. Faruqui was accused by some of throwing stones without naming names. Yadav was accused by others of running a campaign that needed more transparency. Fan armies clashed, each defending their own. Coverage by Bollywood Life reflected the chaos accurately. The ‘Scam’ Narrative And Why It Matters
The situation escalated further when some headlines suggested Faruqui had “exposed” a possible NGO scam linked to the fundraiser. That claim does not hold up to scrutiny.
As reported by Free Press Journal, Faruqui has not accused Yadav or any NGO of fraud. He has not used the word “scam.” The narrative appears to be a product of assumption rather than reporting. Yadav, meanwhile, has publicly denied any wrongdoing. He has stated that he does not take money for helping anyone and that his role was purely to amplify the appeal. There is, at this point, no police complaint, no enquiry, and no regulatory intervention.

This controversy has less to do with two individuals and more to do with the moment we are in. Influencers today can raise crores with a single post. That power is unprecedented. It can save lives. It can also invite suspicion. There are no clear rules for influencer-led charity. No standard disclosure norms. No central oversight. As a result, every large appeal becomes a trust exercise between creator and audience.

Both men come into this moment with history. Faruqui is known for speaking in half-sentences and letting audiences read between the lines. It has worked for him before. It has also landed him in trouble. Yadav carries the weight of scale. His past controversies, though unrelated, ensure that his actions are always examined more closely than others’.
Neither is new to backlash. Neither appears eager to escalate this one.

Strip away the noise, and the picture is simple:
